“Improving Patient Safety Culture in Nursing Homes: Using the AHRQ SOPS Survey to Plan and Implement Change”

Using the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality Survey on Patient Safety Culture (SOPS) – there are versions for hospitals, medical offices, nursing homes and ambulatory surgery centers. Can be found at https://www.ahrq.gov/sops/surveys/hospital/index.html . Complete one on your work site and write a 8-10 page paper (references not counted) on how you would use it to plan an improvement in one or more areas. Include an assessment on where your organization is in implementing a “just culture.” Describe what makes up a culture of safety, or not, in your organization – how do they handle adverse events; how is reporting of adverse events handled; are RCAs done and shared?
