“Exploring Movement Through Space: A Site-Specific Choreographer’s Perspective”

You have the choice between two Creative Essays – GoDANCE or Site-Specific Choreographer POV
Both require photos or videos, so the pics (or links to videos) can either be included in the essay document (recommended) or submitted as a separate file along with the essay. I will not accept emailed photos or videos. Please indicate which Creative Essay Prompt you have chosen at the top of your essay. Below is a description of both prompts.

GoDANCE – Yes, this is a go-and-have-fun assignment, whatever that means for you.
This assignment can be done with friends, face to face or online, but the written portion must be completed individually. You will attend and participate fully in a technique class/social/world dance event/movement class where you move your body (either in-person, online, on YouTube, or on the social media platform of your choice) and write an 800 word reflective, descriptive essay about your experiences.
You should discuss:
What the event is and where it happened
The format of the event
Your experience of it
What you learned about that type of dance or movement form and the community it serves
**REQUIRED – Attach a photo of you experiencing the dance event in context (and friends, if you wish) in the file you submit.
Suggestions: This is intended to be an inclusive experience, so if you need to or wish to remain home, search out online or social media options – there are tons onn YouTube for all levels and abilties. Or, if there is a popular Tik Tok dance / Instagram Dance Challenge you are wanting to try, this could be your moment. I would love to see the video results if you wish to share the post, but a photo of you dancing is required. In the pre-COVID days, I would suggest that classmates meet up somewhere in town to go dancing and they had so much fun and met new friends.

Site-Specific Choreographer POV
Consider yourself a site-specific choreographer for the day. Scout out and choose a location for your dance – indoors or out, anywhere in the world, and submit your proposal (response) and photo.  The response should be 800 words, along with a photo of the site. 
Answer the following:
Where is this site and why you chose it?
Discuss the types of movements or images it inspires
Your thoughts and ideas about exploring the space through dance
What are some limitations you will need to consider?
Briefly describe the dance you would like to do in this location
