Using media advocacy helps us think about news media as a mechanism for informing citizens and pressuring decision makers rather than solely as a tool for getting information to consumers. 
Writing 800-1000 words, using APA format, citations and references as appropriate, select a recent health issue reported by the media and answer the following questions: 
What is this issue about? 
Does the message expand or narrow the constituency? 
Does the message promote a frame that favors your position, or does it default to a negative frame? 
Does it increase or decrease the salience of the issue? 
Does it assign responsibility to those that have the power to change the problem?
